Dear Loving Brothers and Sisters in ChristDear

Following the devastating disaster which hit Northeastern Japan on March 11, many church leaders and Seventh-day Adventist Church congregations throughout the world, as well as Northern Asian Pacific Division generously gave financial support to our Japanese Adventist Churches, her members and her educational institutions.

These donations amounted to over one hundred twenty thousand dollars. We deeply appreciate our brothers and sisters around the world for showing us their concern and their Christian love and praise our Lord because of His giving us such a beautiful loving Christian world community.

Your donations have been distributed to repair damaged churches and companies, give assistance and relief to church members who lost their homes and Kitaura Junior High School which suffered the most damage within the Japanese Adventist schools.

Still, it is projected that it may take much more time for our suffering brethren to be able to recover to a stable normal daily life. Please continue your prayers for them and giving your support to them.

Very Gratefully Yours,

Masumi Shimada, President Japan Union Conference of SDA

Let us now be spiritually in prayer and extend a loving Christian hand.

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ. It is hard to accept the reality that so suddenly East Japan was hit with such a great earthquake! I want to express my deepest feelings of sympathy to those who have been affected by this great disaster.
I was relieved and sincerely thankful to learn that all our church members were protected from bodily harm. But, on the other hand, I was deeply moved by the loss of homes and property by some of our members.
Kitaura Saniku Gakuin Junior High suffered great damage to the boys dormitory and it must be repaired before it can be used again. However, the chapel which was reported to have collapsed, was not.. It was a blessing that it did not collapse and is not in as bad condition as we thought.
Let us join together in prayer for the victims. And, I want to thank you in advance for you remembering to donate to ADRA and to Japan Union Conference for churches and schools that have been directly affected by the earthquakes and tsunami.
We are considering the items that have been gathered, but, we must take into consideration the condition of the roads etc. before we can send and distribute them in some locations.
General Conference President Ted Wilson shared that he had received words of support from countries all over the world. They are from God’s loving hands. And, we also, can be loving hands reaching out to help others..
Saniku Gakuin and Akagiyama Institute have offered shelter to the victims for a period of time. If you would like to help please contact the executive secretary of Japan Union Conference.
Although there is no gas and we are challenged with electric blackouts, Japan Union Conference staff and workers continue to give their best to assist the church members with their immediate needs. We are sorry that we can not reach everyone to help you more.
It is clear that because of this great disaster that God is teaching us two important lessons. One is, the end is coming upon us and the end of time is certainly very close. Secondly, we must stand up and this must be our mission now, that is, to speak with power and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us open our eyes, look up to God and truly believe in God as we ALL go forward. Maranatha Below is the information to send your donations:
